Fortnite's Galactic Battle Season Arrives May 2 with Major Star Wars Crossover

Fortnite has officially unveiled its upcoming season, Galactic Battle, launching on May 2 and bringing with it a massive collaboration with Star Wars. As Chapter 6 Season 2 comes to a close, excitement is building for what’s next in Epic Games' ever-evolving battle royale.

Hints about the crossover surfaced recently when Epic teased a major Fortnite announcement at Star Wars Celebration Japan. This added fuel to long-standing rumors that a full-scale Star Wars-themed season might be on the horizon. According to leakers, the event could introduce fan-favorite skins such as Rebellion Era Leia Organa and Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. However, the true scope of the collaboration remained unclear—until now.

During a live stream at Star Wars Celebration Japan, Epic Games dropped a teaser trailer offering a glimpse of what players can expect when Galactic Battle begins. The video showcased new skins for iconic characters including Mace Windu, Emperor Palpatine, and even Darth Jar Jar. Following the trailer, actor Ahmed Best—best known as the voice of Jar Jar Binks—took the stage to share additional details. He confirmed that players will be able to pilot X-Wings and TIE Fighters across the island and team up in aerial combat during matches. In addition, Best revealed that Force Lightning will be a usable power in the game.

A Star Wars-Themed Battle Pass and More

The Galactic Battle season will feature an exclusive Star Wars battle pass packed with themed cosmetics. Alongside returning and new character skins, the season will introduce unique mash-ups like Wookie Team Leader—a twist on Fortnite’s beloved Cuddle Team Leader. Weekly updates are also planned to continually refresh gameplay and content throughout the season.

Fans also spotted a new Mandalorian-themed skin in the teaser, which some believe will include customization options, though Epic has yet to confirm those details. Meanwhile, an official post from the Star Wars Twitter account confirmed that a full-scale live event will conclude the season—raising even more anticipation among players.
