Genshin Impact Leak Suggests Disappointing Changes for Ifa
Recent Genshin Impact beta updates bring concerning news for Ifa fans, as the highly anticipated 4-star character appears set to debut with a lackluster ability kit. Ifa has generated significant excitement in the community. Although Natlan boasts several standout characters like Mavuika, Citlali, and Xilonen, Ifa quickly became a fan-favorite after being teased during the Archon Quest in Version 5.1. His full in-game debut arrived in Version 5.5, where he took center stage during the region’s Flagship Event.
Ifa’s popularity is easy to understand. Between Versions 4.1 and 5.7, Genshin Impact has only introduced one male 5-star character, leaving players eager for more representation. Many hoped Ifa would be Natlan’s second male 5-star. However, disappointment followed once it was confirmed that he would be a 4-star unit. Compounding the frustration is the fact that, since Version 4.1, the only new Tall Male character has been Ororon — a 4-star who, at least, arrived with a solid kit. With Ifa’s appealing design, memorable performance by Jonny Loquasto, and high pre-launch expectations, the letdown feels even sharper.
Early beta leaks revealed that Ifa is intended to serve as an on-field support for Electro-Charged teams, offering synergy with Ororon and providing group healing. However, in practice, his healing is negligible. Recent adjustments shared by leaker Hakushin suggest that Ifa is being shifted even further away from a healing role.
Passives
- P4: While within an area utilizing Phlogiston Mechanics in Natlan, if the active party member or an indwelt saurian falls below 40% HP, Ifa will consume 10 Phlogiston to restore 40% HP. This effect triggers once every 10 seconds and is inactive in Domains, Trounce Domains, and the Spiral Abyss.
Constellations
- C6: When Ifa uses the Hold version of his Supporting Fire ability, there is a 50% chance he will fire an additional Tonicshot, dealing 120% of his ATK as Anemo DMG (counted as Normal Attack DMG). Additionally, when out of combat, Ifa consumes 20% less Nightsoul points and Phlogiston during his Nightsoul’s Blessing state.
Interestingly, Ifa’s Ascension Passive makes him one of the most effective exploration characters specifically for Natlan. However, since the passive only works within Natlan, it limits his broader usefulness, making him feel too niche compared to other characters. With only one more Natlan zone left before the game shifts to Nod-Krai, the timing of Ifa’s release diminishes the long-term value of his kit. Had he launched earlier in Natlan’s content cycle, reception may have been warmer. As it stands, Ifa struggles to compare favorably against units like Iansan, Lan Yan, or even Ororon.
The adjustments to his sixth constellation also represent a significant nerf, especially given Ifa’s low base ATK — one of the lowest among all characters. While Genshin Impact’s endgame remains accessible to a wide range of team compositions, players should temper their expectations regarding Ifa’s performance.
Version 5.6 is scheduled to launch on May 7, 2025 — and fans will soon see firsthand whether Ifa can still carve out a role or remains a missed opportunity. 🌸
