Dark Souls Remastered Gets True Co-Op Thanks to Seamless Mod

A new mod has expanded the cooperative potential of Dark Souls Remastered, allowing players to experience the entire game together without the usual online limitations. The project, known as Seamless Co-op, builds on similar modifications previously created for Elden Ring and Dark Souls III.

The mod offers a number of key features designed to improve and simplify cooperative gameplay:

  • stable connection between players, which remains active even if a teammate dies or a boss is defeated;
  • optimized matchmaking system for connecting from anywhere in the world;
  • removal of fog walls and other barriers that prevent seamless exploration;
  • synchronized loot drops and NPC dialogues for all players;
  • simultaneous world state updates for the entire group when resting at a bonfire;
  • optional difficulty settings that allow adjusting enemy health and damage;
  • the ability to fight against invading phantoms.

Currently, Seamless Co-op is still in its alpha stage, meaning bugs and technical issues are possible. Players are encouraged to report any problems on the mod's Nexus Mods page to help speed up future fixes.

Despite its early state, the mod already allows groups of up to five players to complete the entire game together, fully bypassing the original phantom-based multiplayer limitations and FromSoftware’s online services. Since it doesn’t interact with official servers, using the mod won’t result in an account ban.
