With Version 5.5 set to introduce both Varesa (a five-star Catalyst user) and Iansan (a four-star polearm user), anticipation for the next update is at an all-time high. Both characters will feature in the first banner cycle, allowing players to obtain them from the same Event Wish. However, it seems that HoYoverse has already begun teasing future additions to the game’s expanding roster.

Mysterious Character Appears in Varesa’s Trailer

Ahead of each new character release, Genshin Impact debuts promotional videos showcasing their story, abilities, and personality. In the latest character teaser, “Varesa: Pre-Tournament Prep,” players have spotted a mysterious figure who briefly appears in the background. The scene only reveals her backside, but key details have sparked speculation:

• A chef’s hat
• A burgundy outfit
• A Cryo Vision attached to her hat

These attributes closely match those of Escoffier, a rumored Cryo chef character long anticipated by the community. Furthermore, her design silhouette strongly resembles a character officially teased by HoYoverse months ago, further fueling speculation about her imminent debut.

Escoffier’s Potential Role in Genshin Impact

Escoffier’s status as a Cryo user aligns with previous leaks suggesting she will be designed to synergize with Cryo and Hydro teams by providing Elemental Shred for both elements. Many fans hope she will enhance Cryo team compositions, similar to how Xilonen became a top-tier Geo support.

Additionally, Escoffier is rumored to have strong ties to Fontaine, hinting at a potential return to the Hydro nation in future story content. However, she may not be the only new character arriving soon.

Ifa: Another Upcoming Character Revealed

During the recent Special Program event, HoYoverse officially introduced Ifa, a renowned Saurian veterinarian from Natlan. Ifa has been mentioned in-game on multiple occasions and is known to be a close friend of Ororon, a four-star Electro support character.
