During Sony's February 2025 State of Play, developer Reikon Games officially unveiled Metal Eden, an adrenaline-fueled sci-fi first-person shooter set to launch on May 6, 2025, for PlayStation 5. Known for their work on Ruiner, the studio is taking its signature fast-paced action to new heights with this intense, dystopian shooter.

In Metal Eden, players step into the role of ASKA, an advanced battle android navigating the perilous depths of Vulcan, a world consumed by chaos and destruction. The game blends high-speed gunplay with fluid movement mechanics, allowing for fast-paced parkour-style traversal across a decaying cybernetic landscape.

One of the game's standout features is Core Ripping. Using a powerful Multitool equipped with a Gravity Beam, ASKA can rip energy cores straight from enemies in real-time combat. These cores have multiple strategic uses—players can throw them for devastating explosions, consume them to enhance melee attacks, or use them to boost mobility and survivability. This unique mechanic adds a layer of tactical decision-making, letting players adapt their approach to combat on the fly.

Beyond the Core Ripping system, Metal Eden features a vast arsenal of futuristic weapons, upgradeable abilities, and fast-paced encounters with increasingly dangerous cybernetic foes. The game's combat design is reminiscent of DOOM Eternal and Titanfall 2 but with a distinct sci-fi aesthetic and a focus on resource-based mechanics.

Reikon Games has also confirmed that Metal Eden will take full advantage of the PlayStation 5's hardware, offering high-fidelity visuals, fast loading times, and support for haptic feedback and adaptive triggers via the DualSense controller. The game is also set to launch on PC and Xbox Series X/S, ensuring a wide audience can experience its frenetic action.

Metal Eden is shaping up to be one of the most intense FPS experiences of the year, and fans eager for more information can check out the official reveal trailer below:

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the game's release on May 6!
