Lunar Awakening Event Returns to Diablo 4
Blizzard is celebrating the Year of the Snake with the return of Diablo 4's Lunar Awakening event, offering even greater rewards than before. The event will run from February 4-18 across both the Eternal and Seasonal realms, bringing new challenges and opportunities for players. Like last year, Lunar Awakening replaces the game's regular shrines with special Lunar Shrines, which provide powerful bonuses. These shrines function similarly to their normal counterparts but come with enhanced effects. For example, Lunar Artillery Shrines now have a chance to unleash a holy bomb that strikes enemies, in addition to piercing them with holy arrows. Meanwhile, Lunar Greed Shrines give players a higher chance to summon a Treasure Goblin with each monster kill, making it easier to amass wealth.
During the event, players will also have the opportunity to earn free cosmetics by defeating monsters while benefiting from the effects of the Lunar Shrines. These rewards include items such as mount appearances, weapon skins, and a Resplendent Spark, which is used to craft Mythic Uniques. This year, the event offers a significant upgrade to the experience players can gain. For the duration of the Lunar Shrine's effects, players will receive a 100% multiplicative experience bonus, up from the 50% bonus from last year's event. This boost will accelerate leveling, making it easier to progress through the game’s content, especially for new characters or those seeking to gain endgame Paragon points.
As players take part in the event, they will earn reputation points that contribute to the progress on the reward track, which includes 10 distinct rewards. Additionally, Lunar Awakening-themed items will be available for purchase in Diablo 4’s premium cosmetics shop throughout the event.
The return of Lunar Awakening follows the launch of Diablo 4's Season 7, which introduced new supernatural powers like Firebats and Piranhado, inspired by Diablo 3’s Witch Doctor. The latest update also added the Armory to both the Eternal and Seasonal realms, allowing players to save up to five character load-outs, encouraging more experimentation with builds. Meanwhile, balance changes were made to the game’s Runewords, and the new Spiritborn class received a substantial nerf in the expansion.
