Liberty City Mod for GTA V Shut Down After Rockstar’s Intervention
The ambitious Liberty City Preservation Project mod, which brought the iconic Liberty City into GTA V, has been canceled. This impressive mod recreated the full Liberty City experience, including its map, vehicles, pedestrians, interiors, ambiance, and even radio stations, essentially serving as an unofficial expansion for GTA V.
The mod garnered significant attention and praise from the gaming community, which may have prompted Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive to intervene. Following discussions with the modding team, the creators decided to shut down the project, likely due to the looming threat of a cease-and-desist (C&D) order.
This outcome is not entirely unexpected, as Take-Two has a history of taking down fan-made mods and projects that alter or expand their games. Even popular modding platforms like FiveM have faced challenges from the company in the past. While the GTA V modding community is vast and passionate, Take-Two’s strict approach to intellectual property rights often clashes with fan efforts.
As reported by DSO Gaming, despite this disappointment, GTA V fans can still explore other incredible mods. Highlights include the Real Life Beverly Hills Mod, Sunshine Dream (a Miami-inspired total conversion), NaturalVision Evolved (a stunning graphical overhaul), and QuantV. Some mods enhance side characters, add horror elements, and restore cut songs from the game. These projects showcase the creativity and dedication of the GTA V modding community, even as they navigate Take-Two’s challenging policies.
For now, fans of Liberty City in GTA V will have to wait for official content or turn to other creative mods to enhance their experience.
