Palworld Players Cautioned: New Update Causes Multiplayer Save Woes on Xbox and PC Game Pass Versions
Pocketpair has issued a caution to players of Palworld on platforms other than Steam, advising against attempting to load old multiplayer save files. This guidance comes in the wake of numerous reports from players experiencing the loss of their multiplayer progress in the game's latest update.
The Palworld update 0.2.0.6 was first released for Steam users on April 4 and expanded to the Xbox platform five days later. This patch introduced a significant amount of new content, enhancements for player convenience, and fixes for existing bugs. However, it also brought about new issues, notably a compatibility problem with older multiplayer save files.
New Palworld Update Compromises Older Multiplayer Saves
Following the update's expansion to Xbox, a surge of complaints regarding vanished multiplayer progress flooded in. Pocketpair quickly recognized the issue, confirming that save data from previous versions of the game is failing to load correctly in the 0.2.0.6 update. The developer is currently investigating the root cause of this save data incompatibility.
Problem Exclusive to Xbox and Non-Steam Versions of Palworld
Communications from Pocketpair and reports from the player community indicate that this issue is confined to the Xbox version of Palworld, including the Microsoft Store edition available to PC Game Pass subscribers. While it's difficult to predict the timeframe for resolving this issue, Pocketpair has a track record of swiftly addressing significant bugs, often within days.
Additionally, the 0.2.0.6 update introduced a bug affecting the ability to place eggs in incubators across all game versions, including Steam. Unlike the save file issue, this bug is less critical as players can circumvent it by reconstructing any affected incubator, which then functions correctly. Pocketpair has pinpointed the cause of this problem and plans to issue a fix "in the next few days," as stated in a recent tweet.
Given that Palworld is an early access title, encountering some technical issues is par for the course. Despite these challenges, the latest update has largely been met with positive feedback from the community, who have commended the significant quality-of-life improvements and the introduction of new content, such as Bellanoir, the game's inaugural raid boss.
