The latest system update for Nintendo Switch enhances operational stability and updates the list of prohibited words

Nintendo has released the 17.0.0 update for the Nintendo Switch, bringing several interesting changes. This update primarily focuses on improving system stability to enhance the overall user experience.

OatmealDome, a dataminer known for analyzing system updates, noted that this update affected almost every component of the operating system, which is typical for major updates. Rebuilding the operating system using a newer version of the software development kit (SDK) is a standard practice for such updates.

During the latest financial briefing in August, Nintendo reported that total Nintendo Switch sales had reached an impressive 129.53 million units by mid-2023. However, the company plans to sell 15 million Nintendo Switch consoles in the current fiscal year, which will end in March 2024. This represents a 16.5% decrease compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, Nintendo has confirmed its plans to support the console with new games in the next fiscal year.

There are no official statements from Nintendo regarding the release of the next gaming console, but sources suggest that the company has already sent development kits for the Nintendo Switch 2 to developers, with a planned launch in the second half of 2024.
