The game Excitebike 64 will be available on the Nintendo Switch Online service starting next week
Nintendo has announced the addition of another beloved classic game from the Nintendo 64 era to the Nintendo Switch Online subscription. The racing game Excitebike 64 will be joining the lineup.
This game will become available to users through the Expansion Pack add-on next week, joining other popular Nintendo 64 games like Pokemon Stadium, Paper Mario, and Pokemon Snap.
Alongside this announcement, Nintendo has also released a charming retro-inspired trailer in the style of 90s video game advertisements, showcasing all the features of Excitebike 64.
You can watch the trailer here. If you played Excitebike 64 back when it was originally released years ago, you'll likely appreciate the nostalgic atmosphere of this trailer even more.
Despite the fact that the Switch Online version of Excitebike 64 will mainly be a faithful adaptation of the Nintendo 64 game, some improvements are in store.
For example, the visual quality has been enhanced a bit to provide smoother textures (though we're still talking about the Nintendo 64 era). Additionally, you'll be able to enjoy both local and online multiplayer modes with other Nintendo Switch owners.
Excitebike 64 will become available through the Expansion Pack feature for Nintendo Switch Online starting from August 30th.
If you're unfamiliar with the Expansion Pack, it's an additional add-on for the Nintendo Switch Online subscription that grants access to extra content, including retro games from the Genesis and Game Boy Advance, as well as additional content for certain Nintendo Switch games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The Expansion Pack complements the regular Nintendo Switch Online service, which offers access to a selection of Game Boy, NES, and SNES titles, without requiring the Expansion Pack.
You can subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online right now through the official Nintendo website or your Nintendo Switch console. Stay tuned for more information about which other retro games will be added to this service in the future!
