Revitalizing Cyberpunk 2077: Patch 2.02 Unveils Key Fixes and Improvements

CD Projekt RED has unveiled the patch notes for the upcoming 2.02 update of Cyberpunk 2077, highlighting a plethora of fixes and improvements that will enhance the gaming experience. Following the tumultuous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED has been steadily working on revitalizing the game, with the recent 2.0 update and the highly-anticipated Phantom Liberty expansion. This expansion introduced Dogtown, a new region within Night City, and featured the enigmatic character Solomon Reed, portrayed by the esteemed actor Idris Elba.

The revival of Cyberpunk 2077 over the past couple of years can be largely attributed to CD Projekt RED's commitment to frequent updates and ongoing post-launch development. The September Title Update 2.0 was a pivotal moment for the game, bringing about significant changes, including an extensive revamp of the skill tree, enhanced police and MaxTac enforcement, improved enemy behavior, car combat enhancements, and more. In the wake of this update, CDPR has continued to provide smaller patches, with version 2.02 being the latest.

While Update 2.02 is on the horizon, CD Projekt RED has released the full patch notes to keep players informed about the improvements and bug fixes that are on the way. While not as extensive as previous updates like Title Update 2.0, this patch addresses important and vexing issues that players have reported in recent weeks.

Notable fixes in Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.02 include resolving an issue where V could unexpectedly "flatline" after entering the Delamain AV during the Patch of Glory quest. Additionally, Run This Town had a section where shutters obstructed access to Black Sapphire, a frustrating problem that has been rectified. The patch also addresses problems related to passive skill progression and Cyberware suddenly downgrading. Furthermore, the timers for courier missions have been rebalanced to provide a fairer experience.

The continuous efforts to repair and improve the game have proven to be the right decision, ultimately restoring the game's reputation and leading to its substantial success. CD Projekt RED recently disclosed that the studio invested approximately $125.9 million in rectifying Cyberpunk 2077 over the past few years. Despite the substantial cost, it was a worthwhile investment considering the game's resurgence in popularity and success.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.02 Patch Notes:

  • V will no longer experience sudden "flatlining" after entering the Delamain AV in the Path of Glory quest.
  • Resolved the issue of shutters obstructing entry to Black Sapphire in the Run This Town quest.
  • Fixed a problem where cyberware could be downgraded to Tier 1 after updating the game to 2.01.
  • Addressed issues related to passive skill progression.
  • Rebalanced courier mission timers.

Note: The problem where Xbox Series X|S players are not receiving the Quadra Sport R-7 "Vigilante" pre-order bonus is still under investigation. CD Projekt RED is collaborating with Microsoft to identify the root cause and provide a fix as soon as possible, and they appreciate players' patience.
