Once again, the release of the Alone in the Dark reboot has been postponed
Originally slated for release in October 2023, then postponed to January of the following year, the game is now scheduled to launch on March 20, 2024.
The publisher stated that the decision to delay the game was made to avoid undue stress for the developers at the Swedish studio Pieces Interactive and to ensure the final product meets expectations.
"As the year comes to a close and the holiday season approaches, up until today, it hasn't felt that way for the development team of our upcoming survival horror game, 'Alone in the Dark', from Pieces Interactive," THQ Nordic wrote.
"With our initially planned release date in January 2024, the holiday season would have been anything but merry for them. Therefore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have decided to set a new release date for 'Alone in the Dark': March 20, 2024.
"The well-being of the team is a top priority, and both companies aim to avoid any potential overload during the holiday season.
"Additionally, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive want to ensure that the game not only meets but exceeds the community's expectations, especially with the outstanding performances of Hollywood stars David and Jodie in the roles of the main protagonists.
"We understand that many eagerly await the game's release, but your patience will be rewarded."
"Alone in the Dark" is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The game features David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow) and Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) portraying the main characters of Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood as they explore the enigmatic mansion of Derceto.
A free playable prologue titled "Grace in the Dark" is already available for download. It narrates the story of a young girl named Grace Saunders a few weeks before the main game, as she wanders through the mysterious mansion.
