Exciting News for Cyberpunk 2077 Fans: 2.0 Update Release Date and Game-Changing Features Revealed!
Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts should mark September 21st on their calendars, as CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed that the game's 2.0 update is scheduled to release on that date. This highly anticipated update is coming just five days before the launch of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the game's first and only expansion.
Similar to previous updates, version 2.0 will be exclusive to current-generation consoles and PC. CDPR ceased support for Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS4 and Xbox One in September 2022, with the 1.6 update being the final release for these last-gen systems.
While there were previous hints that the 2.0 update might coincide with the release of Phantom Liberty, a recently shared teaser has clarified that the update will, in fact, arrive on Thursday, September 21st. This gives existing game owners some time to explore the features of Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 update before deciding whether to purchase the $29.99 expansion upon its launch, unless they have already pre-ordered it. Like previous patches, the 2.0 update will be provided free of charge.
The announcement of the update's release date is accompanied by a brief video highlighting several of the upcoming features, including a redesigned perk and Cyberware system. The package also includes a new Relic skill tree, allowing players to harness Johnny Silverhand's abilities.
The 2.0 update incorporates the revamped police system and vehicle combat prominently showcased in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty trailers. These new combat mechanics expand beyond just shooting from vehicles and utilizing their built-in weaponry; players can also hack their way through traffic and even manipulate other vehicles using a variety of new Quickhacks.
Regarding changes to the police system, the 2.0 update will make law enforcement in Cyberpunk 2077 more realistic by preventing them from appearing out of thin air. Instead, nearby officers will respond to distress calls and set up roadblocks if the player embarks on a rampage.
