The game Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will remain a PlayStation 5 exclusive for at least three months
On Thursday, the publisher announced that the second part of the Final Fantasy 7 remake will be available on two discs starting on February 29, 2024. The trailer announcing the release date also confirmed that the game will remain exclusive to PlayStation, at least until May 29, 2024.
The original Final Fantasy 7 remake was released for the PS4 in April 2020, and an enhanced version, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, became available on the PS5 in June 2021, and then on PC six months later.
Considering that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has only a three-month exclusivity window on the PS5, it's likely that PC players won't have to wait long to continue their adventure in this world, while it won't be available on the PS4.
A month ago, it was announced that Final Fantasy 14 will finally be coming to Xbox consoles in 2024, ending its decade-long exclusivity on PlayStation.
When asked about the possibility of other PlayStation exclusives, such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 16, coming to Xbox, Xbox head Phil Spencer did not provide comments but emphasized the importance of the partnership with the Japanese publisher for Microsoft consoles.
Following the release date announcement, the creative director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Tetsuya Nomura, shared information about where the game's story concludes.
"While some locations may change in terms of their appearance, the events of this part encompass locations up to the Forgotten Capital, where the great fate of Final Fantasy VII awaits," he stated in the PlayStation blog.
