Elden Ring's Epic No-Hit Run Foiled by Unfair Boss 'Cheating': A Frustrating Bug Threatens Players' Mastery in the Dark Fantasy Realm
An ambitious Elden Ring player came close to achieving a remarkable no-hit run, only to be thwarted by an unexpected twist – a boss seemingly cheating to land a hit. This frustrating bug, rather than a skill-based setback, has become a source of annoyance for numerous players.
Elden Ring, the 2022 hit from Dark Souls developer FromSoftware, follows the challenging Soulslike genre, prompting skilled players to push their limits and accomplish extraordinary feats, such as avoiding hits entirely. Redditor Waleedbro7 recently shared gameplay footage depicting their encounter with the Godskin Duo Great Enemy towards the end of Elden Ring. They asserted that they were on the verge of completing a flawless run until an unfortunate incident occurred.
Waleedbro7 successfully vanquished the boss with three strikes from their Serpent-Hunter spear. However, a vexing glitch transpired – the monster executed a final attack despite the clear indication that it had been defeated. Caught off guard, Waleedbro7 succumbed to the hit and perished, while the Great Enemy continued to roam, visibly not deceased.
This type of bug seems to be a recurring issue in Elden Ring, with other adversaries refusing to succumb even when their health registers at zero. Fellow Redditors sympathized with Waleedbro7, contending that their demise resulted from an unforeseeable glitch, rendering their hits and death inconsequential to their no-hit run. While some dissenting opinions emerged, the prevailing sentiment is that such an issue shouldn't be held against the player, given its unpredictable nature.
Despite these frustrating glitches, Elden Ring exhibits various harmless bugs, mostly manifesting as peculiar changes to character appearances and amusing animations that don't significantly impact its acclaimed gameplay. Nonetheless, it's disheartening to see even a meticulously crafted game like Elden Ring isn't immune to glitches and technical hiccups.
Approaching its two-year anniversary since launch, Elden Ring remains a popular title with players having extensively explored its depths. Anticipation is building for the game's 2024 expansion, "Shadow of the Eldtree." While no substantial updates have occurred since the official announcement on the game's first anniversary last February, speculations abound that an official release date may be unveiled on its second anniversary in 2024 or possibly sooner.
