GTA 6 Leak Masterminds: Unveiling the Teenage Hackers' Year of Digital Mayhem and Future Criminal Intentions
One year ago, the gaming industry witnessed one of its most extensive leaks, with numerous videos and thousands of lines of source code from an early version of GTA 6 surfacing online. This summer, it was disclosed that the orchestrators behind this hacking event were two individuals – 18-year-old Arion Kurtaj and his 17-year-old associate (whose identity is kept confidential due to being a minor).
The legal proceedings have been ongoing for several months, and recently, the 18-year-old hacker underwent a psychiatric evaluation. During the session, he hinted at his intention to resume criminal activities after being released from prison.
Kurtaj remains unwavering in his determination to engage in illicit activities in the future, emphasizing that his time spent incarcerated over the past year has not diminished his resolve. To recap, the hackers initiated their operations in July 2021, breaching the servers of major entities such as NVIDIA, BT Group, mobile operator EE, launching attacks on servers of Revolut, Uber, Rockstar Games, and utilizing stolen data from SIM cards to pilfer approximately £100,000 from cryptocurrency wallets.
