A rating has been assigned to a game in the Far Cry universe that has not been announced
As noted by Game Rant, the game Captain Laserhawk Niji Warrior has been rated by PEGI, indicating a potential upcoming official announcement.
This project, currently rated only for PC, is likely based on Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, an animated series from Netflix inspired by Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
The series tells the story of a cyborg super-soldier branded an enemy of the state, searching for a worthy cause in a dystopian society.
According to the PEGI rating, players engage in a "laser deathmatch" and compete to eliminate the maximum number of opponents. Players also have the opportunity to purchase in-game items, such as cosmetics.
According to press reports this year, Ubisoft is currently working on Far Cry 7 and a standalone multiplayer game set in the Far Cry universe.
It is claimed that Far Cry 7 is being developed on Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine, in contrast to the Dunia engine used in recent series entries. The multiplayer game is likely a shooter with extraction mechanics, set in Alaska.
Both projects, as reported, are tentatively scheduled for release in the fall of 2025.
Ubisoft is also actively making several appointments and promotions within the Far Cry brand, preparing for the series' future.
In August of last year, Ubisoft Montreal veteran Sandra Warren was promoted to the position of Vice President and Executive Producer of the Far Cry brand. Sandra joined Ubisoft in 2006 and has been actively involved in the development of the Far Cry series since 2016, most recently serving as the brand producer for Far Cry 6.
