Rockstar acquires the studio Cfx.re, which specializes in developing role-playing modifications for GTA 5
"As of today, we proudly announce that the Cfx.re team, responsible for the leading roleplay communities within Rockstar - FiveM and RedM, has officially become a part of Rockstar Games," the company informs on its official website.
"Over the past years, we've been enthusiastically observing how Rockstar's creative community discovers new ways to expand the possibilities of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, particularly through the development of specialized roleplay servers.
"In order to further support these efforts, we recently expanded our policy regarding modifications, officially incorporating those crafted by the roleplay creative community.
"By collaborating with the Cfx.re team, we aim to help them discover fresh ways to support this impressive community and enhance the services they provide to developers and players."
During the pandemic, the popularity of roleplaying in GTA 5 soared on the Twitch platform. This modification allows players to use the foundation of GTA to create entirely new game modes, an expanded inventory system, a law enforcement framework, and other life-simulation-style mechanics, attracting hundreds of thousands of viewers daily.
This move might come as a surprise to those who recall Rockstar's previous experience with modders.
