"BattleBit Remastered" foreshadows a promising future after its "impressive" launch
After the unexpected success of the low-polygon shooter BattleBit Remastered, a three-person development team shared an update in which they talked about the recent weeks and the plans for the game's future.
Since its launch on June 15th, BattleBit Remastered has become a surprising success story for its small team, gathering tens of thousands of concurrent players and temporarily becoming the top-selling game on Steam.
In a blog post published over the weekend on July 1st, the creators of BattleBit Remastered expressed their gratitude for the "amazing reception" it received.
"Our record-breaking numbers of concurrent players have surpassed all our expectations," the blog states. "We want to emphasize that our team is dedicated to this game and its future."
However, the developers acknowledged that the launch of BattleBit Remastered didn't go entirely smoothly.
While the shooter endured DDoS attacks in its first week, the following week, malicious actors discovered a vulnerability in the game's firewall. This vulnerability was exploited to target specific servers, including "servers hosting content creators to inflict maximum damage to BattleBit's reputation."
Although the developers of BattleBit Remastered admit that this had a "significant impact" on the development, the vulnerability has been fixed, and the team is looking towards the game's future.
As for new content, fans can expect "new weapons, gadgets, maps, and revamped existing maps," along with additional game modes and community servers dedicated to specific game modes.
