Hogwarts Legacy breaks Cyberpunk 2077 record on Twitch
Yesterday, early access to the project from Avalanche Software became available to buyers of the deluxe edition of Hogwarts Legacy. Along with this, a new game set in the Harry Potter universe set a new record for online single-player streaming on Twitch. The record was 1.3 million viewers. We previously covered the Developer Direct by Xbox & Bethesda presentation.
The previous record was held by CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2077. At the time of its release, the Cyberpunk broadcast was watched by 1.14 million people. Hogwarts Legacy is a highly anticipated project, since in general games based on the works of Joanne Rowling have not been released for a very long time.
The last full-fledged projects were Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 and Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7, released in 2011 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 generation devices.
Top 5 online viewership for single player broadcasts on Twitch:
- Hogwarts Legacy - 1,300,000
- Cyberpunk 2077 - 1,140,000
- Elden Ring - 910,000
- Resident Evil: Village - 674,000
- Dying Light 2 - 620,000
The events of Hogwarts Legacy will unfold long before the events of the cult books and films, namely in the 19th century. The project is made in the genre of action/RPG, within which you can create your own character, join one of the legendary faculties of Hogwarts and explore the world around you. The game is created on the game engine Unreal Engine 4. The release is scheduled for February 10 this year.
