The PlayStation 5 was released on November 12, 2020 in America, Canada, Mexico, Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, and a week later the console was released in the rest of the world.

Immediately after the release, Sony began to experience an acute shortage of parts for the game console, and therefore the console was not produced in the quantity that was originally planned. To this day, in many countries there is a shortage of consoles, and immediately after the release of the console, many Sony PlayStation 5 were bought up by resellers.

The new console differs from its main competitor Xbox Series X/S with a gamepad with haptic feedback, which is realized by adding many micro-motors for vibration. The rear bottom triggers have also been redesigned so that players, for example, can feel the simulation of pulling the trigger when firing a weapon in the game.
