EA FC 26 Dev Responds to Concerns About “Fewer” FUT Promos

With EA SPORTS FC 26 right around the corner, players are buzzing about what’s in store—especially when it comes to Ultimate Team promos. Amid rumors of a lighter promo calendar, one of the game’s developers has stepped in to set the record straight. 🛑📣

🗣️ Rumors Spark Worry Among FUT Fans

As EA begins rolling out details for EA FC 26, the devs have promised the “most community-driven” entry yet, loaded with long-requested updates. But recent chatter online sparked concern: would the game really feature fewer FUT promos?

The rumors gained traction after it was revealed that pre-orders include untradable ICONs and 93+ player picks—suggesting the power curve might be getting dialed down. Naturally, many feared this also meant fewer weekly promos.

EA Dev Confirms Promos Aren’t Going Anywhere

Jamey Cane, Senior Lead Product Manager at EA SPORTS FC, addressed the concerns directly on X (formerly Twitter):

“When I mentioned slowing the power curve, the goal is to help items stay relevant longer. That means Golds will last longer, and new items won’t instantly make your squad outdated. But that doesn’t mean fewer promos.

🔥 Promos are here to stay, Cane confirmed. Weekly squad releases will continue, along with the fan-favorite “big, boost-heavy” promos that players love.

⚖️ Striking a Better Balance

Cane explained EA’s new approach: it’s about quality and pacing, not cutting back.

“When every promo is special, none of them are. That’s been clear from your feedback this year,” he wrote.

To put things in perspective, he added:

“We’re calibrating the pace to be closer to FIFA 23 or FC 24—slower than FC 25, but not as dialed-back as the old FIFA 15 days.”

🎭 Fan Reactions Are Mixed

Some FUT players feel uneasy about FIFA 23 and FC 24 being used as benchmarks, but many are relieved that weekly content and flashy promos aren’t disappearing.

At the end of the day, it looks like EA FC 26 is aiming for more meaningful progression—without sacrificing the excitement of new content drops. 🚀
