DreamHack Winter 2016 will feature a Nordic Championship
DreamHack recently announced that they will be turning over a new leaf for Nordic eSports, as they will be expanding into the Nordic market starting this winter.
Four countries have been announced to have their own championship at DreamHack Winter 2016, being Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. This will take place in late November and will have matches for CS:GO, Hearthstone, and StarCraft II. All of the players competing will be fighting for a €20,000 prize pool in Jönköping, Sweden on November 24th in front of a dedicated, live audience. There will also be high quality live English coverage of the event for its duration.
As this is a kick-off season, there has been no time for preliminary rounds beforehand, and DreamHack has said that they plan to host proper National Championships for the countries involved in 2017. In the meantime, we can naturally expect to see some of the most well-known Nordic region players attending this event, such as Robin “flusha” Ronnquist (CS:GO), or Rickard “SortOf” Bergman (SC2).
