The Saudi organization claimed victory after Team Liquid and Team Vitality dropped out in the final, seventh week of the competition. It should be reminded that the Esports World Cup 2025 Club Championship featured 40 clubs, whose main task was to collect as many points as possible across all esports disciplines. Team Falcons fielded the largest number of players — they participated in 25 disciplines this year, which, along with strong results, allowed them to win.

The team competed in 21 esports titles, winning in Overwatch 2 and taking second place in Dota 2. Thanks to this, they topped the standings with 5,200 points and received the main prize of 7 million dollars.

Team Falcons managed to outperform their main competitors, Liquid and Vitality, who, despite participating in fewer disciplines, also managed to score over 4,000 points.

In eight years of existence, Team Falcons has risen to become a leading esports organisation and has won over $10 million in prize money.

Controversy around Team Falcons

The main investors of Team Falcons are the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia — the same structure that finances the Esports World Cup Fund and organizes the tournament itself. Thanks to this, the organization has access to the best players and can secure the highest results, which allows them to claim a significant part of the 27 million dollar prize pool of the Club Championship.

Like the team, the EWC itself also faces criticism. Part of the community considers it an instrument of “sportswashing,” aimed at improving the country’s image under the pretext of developing sustainability in the esports industry. Additionally, concerns about human rights in Saudi Arabia remain, along with accusations of manipulations around tournament processes.
