G2 Esports Teams Up With Blacklist International To Launch Wild Rift Team
European esports organization G2 Esports has announced a strategic partnership with Philippine club Blacklist International to launch a Wild Rift team. The new team will perform under the name "G2 Blacklist" and is already taking part in the open qualifiers for Wild Rift League Asia 2023 Season 1.
We bring together the best from East and West to take the new esports competition by storm. The partnership of G2 Esports and Blacklist International, as two major winning organizations, was created with great ambition. Blacklist International is a winning team made up of successful people who have helped them dominate the mobile esports market. It is in Asia that Wild Rift aims to succeed and we wanted to be a part of it and introduce the G2 Esports team to our fans in the region.
Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2 Esports
Recall that earlier Riot Games refused to support the Wild Rift competitive scene outside of Asia. Thus, many clubs from Europe and North America left the discipline, but now G2 Esports has found a way to become part of the ecosystem by teaming up with a local club.
G2 Blacklist is a “1 + 2 = 4” partnership. The collaboration of the two most popular and competitive teams in their respective regions is something truly special. I think this is a game changer not only for Wild Rift, but for the industry as a whole. Together with G2 Esports, we look forward to introducing the international brand Blacklist International to a new audience around the world.
Trike Gutierrez, CEO of Tier One Entertainment
The new team will be based in the Philippines and will compete in the Wild Rift League Asia. As noted above, the team is already taking part in the first open qualifier.
