WePlay Esports resumes broadcasting in Russian

WePlay Esports has announced the resumption of broadcasts of esports tournaments in Russian. At the same time, the championships will be covered through third-party talents, one of which is commentator Igor Sopov. At the same time, the WePlay Holding business will continue to respect its position not to cooperate with companies from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

For more than two months, the WePlay Esports team has been closely following the reaction of the esports audience and the public discussion of the language issue. Attempts to privatize the Russian language by the Russian Federation look uncivilized. For more than 250 million people, Russian is the language of communication, of which only 144 million live in Russia. As English is spoken not only in Great Britain and the United States, so Russian is spoken in Kazakhstan, Germany, Israel and other countries. Not all citizens of Russia choose Russian as the main language of communication.

As one of the largest esports studios in Eastern Europe, WePlay Esports is aware of its responsibility towards the people affected by the decision to stop broadcasting in Russian. Therefore, WePlay Esports resumes broadcasting in Russian on the private streaming channel of the talent, Igor Sopov. The format of WePlay Esports broadcast channels, which were previously used for broadcasting in Russian, has been reorganized for ease of use by the Ukrainian community.

At the same time, the company will continue to produce content in Ukrainian and English, in line with its plans to expand audience coverage and create new opportunities for the Ukrainian esports industry.

Compared to the Ukrainian-language and English-language broadcasts, the Russian-language broadcast will undergo numerous changes. The company does not intend to attract sponsors and partners from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus for monetization. At the same time, the broadcasts will contain information and details about CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) projects such as charitable foundations, donor and volunteer initiatives that are in line with WePlay's corporate values.

One of the vectors of WePlay Holding's work is the creation of new opportunities for the Ukrainian esports sector. The company will release Ukrainian-language content about tournaments and eSports events, paying more attention to the Ukrainian audience.

Recall that a few months ago, WePlay Esports announced the termination of Russian-language broadcasting in order to find the best solution for working with this type of content, so that this approach would be in line with the corporate values of WePlay Holding and its Ukrainian roots.
