Hungrybox becomes co-owner of Team Liquid
European esports organization Team Liquid has expanded its group of owners to include five professional esports players and content creators, including Hungrybox, a renowned Super Smash Bros. player.
Team Liquid selected those players and content creators who presented the opportunity to invest and purchase shares in the organization. Hungrybox co-owns EliGE, WNBA star Erial Powers, streamer Lex and actor Asa Butterfield.
Last year, Forbes magazine valued the Team LIquid organization at $ 310 million. The organization has successful teams in nearly every major esports discipline.
As a reminder, Hungrybox joined Team Liquid in 2015. The 28-year-old American was reportedly selected because of his close ties to Team Liquid's identity and philosophy.
According to Steve Archanset, CEO of Team Liquid, the selected investors had to have a certain amount of money or income in order to qualify.
At the same time, Hungrybox and other co-owners were deliberately selected. Unlike other recent appointments where players and streamers received shares through negotiations, Hungrybox was "rewarded" with shares of the organization.
