McDonald's Creates Metaverses to Celebrate Lunar New Year

As part of the Lunar New Year event, McDonald's decided to announce an unusual event. The American Catering Corporation decided to open the metaverses to celebrate the holiday.

To implement the idea, the company enlisted the support of the famous digital artist Karen X Cheng. She is popular for her work, which may include artificial intelligence and augmented reality technologies. Karen X Cheng not only helped the corporation create a video, but also created these same metaverses with them, in which users can now walk.

The video, made in collaboration with McDonald's, was posted on the corporation's YouTube channel. There, a content creator shares childhood memories related to the food chain, after which a QR code is shown with an invitation to go.

McDonald's has previously shown several metaverses that aim to bring the Lunar New Year to people's lives. Through actions with augmented reality technologies, 3D animation and virtual reality, users can explore these virtual universes.

The catering corporation has prepared various worlds for those interested in the metaverse, each of which has its own characteristics. Somewhere users will be able to visit virtual zoos, somewhere to watch culinary competitions, and in some of them they will witness competitions in traditional Chinese games, since the Lunar New Year is a Chinese holiday, and McDonald's aims to support the Asian audience.

Among other things, McDonald's decided to create an avatar with the ability to change, thanks to which users will be able to explore their metaverses. The company decided to make a kind of social online games for the holiday, in which users can not only explore the created places, but also invite friends, exchange messages with them and even take photos, which can also be sent via the in-game messenger.

You can visit the metaverses by clicking on the QR code in the video pinned above, or by going to the official website of McDonald's, where there is also an invitation to virtual worlds.

It seems that the world of virtual universes on Web3 technologies is reaching a new level and now companies can make interactive events dedicated to the holidays, in which people can spend time together and explore locations as they would in real life.
