Nike to Launch.SWOOSH Web3 Marketplace Today
Nike last year talked about how they were going to launch a full-fledged Web3 marketplace, which would sell NFT tokens and other things. Nike also launched a beta version of the marketplace a few months ago, but now everyone can access the platform.
The first collection to appear on the NFT marketplace is Nike's Air Force 1 collection. According to Nike senior product manager Jasmine Gao, the marketplace will be launched today. Jasmine also said that the decision to add the Nike Air Force 1 sneakers to the NFT marketplace first was agreed with users who took part in the survey and talked about which collection they would like to see first.
The active phase of development and beta testing of Nike.SWOOSH began in mid-November last year. A distinctive feature of the new Nike store in the digital space will be the opportunity to suggest ideas for new collections and collaborate with Nike designers. Exactly how this will be done is unclear at the moment, but if a clothing brand can actually provide users with this opportunity, then SWOOSH can attract a lot of positive attention.
As for the blockchain that will run Nike.SWOOSH, sportswear representatives have decided to make their choice in favor of Polygon Network (MATIC). It is noteworthy that one of the founders of Polygon, Mihailo Belich, congratulated Nike on the upcoming launch of.SWOOSH and the implementation of the first NFT collection from Nike.
Launched for the first time. SWOOSH Nike was announced in November 2022. Representatives of sportswear said that the NFT market will allow fans of such collections to not only purchase sneakers and collect, but also use them for their avatars in various metaverses. In addition, Nike wants the community to participate in the creation of new collections and provide assistance to the creators of collections that will subsequently be sold on the SWOOSH marketplace.
It is noteworthy that.SWOOSH is not the only division of Nike working in the Web3 direction. Previously, the company bought out virtual sneaker designer RTFKT. The latter are developing physical running shoes that will have an embedded chip, allowing wearers to earn money while walking and running.
A similar idea was implemented in the STEPN project, and therefore potential customers will already be familiar with this idea. In terms of total circulation, Nike and RTFKT are going to produce 19,000 of these shoes, and the collection will be called Cryptokicks iRL. In total, four types of such shoes are planned: Ice Mag, Space Matter, Stone and Blackout.
For Nike, the discovery. SWOOSH is not the first foray into Web3 technology. Previously, a well-known sportswear manufacturer talked about creating his own metaverse. In 2021, after Nike also entered the NFT market for the first time.
Recently, we can increasingly see how large companies and international organizations make their attempts to dive into the field of virtual worlds and NFT collections. The boom of non-fungible tokens and collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club, Crypto Punks, Mutant Ape Yacht Club and others has contributed to the entry of various companies into the NFT. Prada, Le Groupe Bugatti and even Aston Martin, Porsche and other eminent companies were seen among these.
