Important CS:GO tournaments of October
In October, several interesting and important CS:GO championships will be taking place. In this material we will tell you about the events which can't be missed if you like observing competitive Counter-Strike.
Esports Championship Series Season 6
The LAN final of ECS Season 6 will take place next month. This tournament is seen in today's material in this tournament due to the fact that on the 3 October the regional stage of Esports Championships Series #6 started. Ten collectives will fight for four invitation to the final part of the tournament in Europe and North America to have a chance to compete for the prize pool of $660,000. There will be a lot of world class teams such as Astralis, FaZe Clan, Fnatic, mousesports and others in the European division, while North America is represented by Liquid, NRG eSports and Cloud9 and the teams of the Tier-2 level predominantly.
StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 6
The sixth season of the StarLadder tournament will be held in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev and the holding place will be Kiev Cybersport Arena as usual. The prize pool is the same which is $300,000. StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 6 will be taking place from 7 to 14 October.
Sixteen teams will participate in the tournament after the qualifiers in Europe, North America and Asia. The majority of the participants got direct invitations from the organizers. We can watch the success of such collectives as mousesports, HellRaisers, North, Renegades, NRG eSports and others at SL StarSeries.
As for the holding format, StarLadder decided to organize a championship with the Swiss system as both players and spectators like it. The final stage will be held in the Single Elimination bracket, where eight best teams will be able to get to. At the playoff the participants will fight for the biggest part of the prize pool while the main money reward is $125,000.
eXTREMESLAND ZOWIE Asia CS:GO 2018
eXTREMESLAND ZOWIE Asia CS:GO 2018 must be the least interesting championship among all the championships held in October. The reason for this is orientation on the east CS:GO only. Representatives of such countries as China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines and others will take part in the championship.
The prize pool of eXTREMESLAND ZOWIE Asia CS:GO 2018 will be $100,000, while the main money reward the teams will fight for is $40,000.
The LAN final will be held in Shanghai from 18 to 21 October. This tournament is recommended for those who wants to watch some CS:GO during the break between SL i-League #6 and EPICENTER 2018, but ECS #6 is not good for that due to some reasons.
EPICENTER 2018
The last interesting tournament in October is EPICENTER 2018. The Epic Esports Events championship will be traditionally held in the capital of Russia, Moscow. The holding place is Park Legend this time. The holding dates are 23-28 October. Eight participants will devide the prize pool of $300,000. Initially, the direct invitations to EPICENTER 2018 were received by such teams as Astralis, Natus Vincere, Team Liquid, mousesports and FaZe Clan, but on the 2 October Astralis reported that due to their busy tournament schedule they would not be able to visit the tournament. It is still unknown who will replace the Danish players at the moment. The three other slots will be taken by the best participants in the Wild Card tournament.
The way the tournament is held is not the most standard. The group stage will be held by the GSL system. Eight collectives will be divided into two groups with four participants in each. One team will be seeded from each group while the three collective will get to the playoff. The participants taking the first places in their groups will get to the semi-final. The collectives talking the 2-3 places in their groups will get to the quarter-final. The division of the prize pool is also still unknown.
