Asap got banned from ESL tournaments lasting a year
Rooster's Tyson 'asap' Paterson has been banned for a year from ESL, ESEA and DreamHack championships. The reason for this was forged documents for participation in the tournament, where only adult players were allowed.
ESL Australia held a duo championship on 28 November. One of the rules for participation was the age of majority. Asap, 17, indicated that he was 18 and fought in the tournament. ESL later noticed that this year the Aussie indicated a different age when applying for the rest of the championships.
The tournament operator decided to put an end to this issue and launched the document verification process. He asked asap for a photo of his ID card with proof of age, to which Tyson Paterson sent a photo of a forged document. They found a discrepancy and asked to record a video, telling about what the fraudulent documentary scam could turn out to be. Asap filmed a video with a real ID-card and admitted to cheating and as a result received a year of ban at all tournaments of the ESL, ESEA and DreamHack series. The ban on participation will be valid until December 2, 2021.
ESIC previously discovered the participation of Australian players in fake matches and banned seven people, two of whom played with asap on the same team.
