FACEIT Is Taking Serious Action Against Smurfing Bans On Their Platform In Counter-Strike 2!
FACEIT is determined to eliminate smurfs from their platform! In their Telegram channel, the platform's representatives posted about a new ban system for toxicity and also mentioned improvements to combat smurfing. The post was accompanied by an image of sad characters from the cartoon The Smurfs, with an off-screen character showing them the middle finger.
FACEIT on the platform update:
- There are now several levels of bans for toxicity and a probation period (bans range from 1 week to 1 year).
- Significant improvements have been made in the fight against smurfing. We understand how important and frustrating this issue is. In September, there was a record wave of smurf bans.
- We have also worked on fixing network issues related to FACEIT servers. Despite a recent survey showing that most users rated the server quality as "high" or even "very high," we continue to seek ways to optimize connectivity for those experiencing difficulties.
- Additionally, many improvements have been made for leagues and tournaments, FACEIT Watch, and FACEIT Mobile.
Smurfs in gaming are experienced players who create or use accounts with low ranks or levels to play against less experienced users. The primary goal of smurfs is to gain easy wins or dominate the game using their skills against beginners. This behavior is common in competitive games with ranking systems, such as CS2, League of Legends, or Valorant.
Although smurfing might seem harmless, it is often viewed as a problem because it disrupts the balance of the game and ruins the experience for less skilled players. Many developers are working to combat this issue by implementing measures such as improved matchmaking algorithms or even banning accounts for consistently creating smurf accounts.
