Wildcard Strengthens Roster with Swedish Signings and New Coach

Wildcard has announced the signing of Swedish players Love "⁠phzy⁠" Smidebrant and Tim "⁠susp⁠" Ångström, filling their roster after parting ways with Adam "⁠Grizz⁠" Golden and AWPer Keller "⁠SLIGHT⁠" Nilan.

This move follows the addition of Vincent "⁠vinS⁠" Jozefiak, a former member of Anonymo and HONORIS, who has taken over the coaching role previously held by Brazilian coach João "⁠horvy⁠" Horvath. Despite efforts, Peter "⁠stanislaw⁠" Jarguz's team struggled during the first half of 2024, facing strong competition from teams like M80, Nouns, and Liquid.

Wildcard reached the PGL Americas RMR but managed only one win before losing to RED Canids and M80. Their performance at IEM Chengdu also fell short, resulting in a 13-16th place finish.

However, there were some positive outcomes for Wildcard. The North American team secured a spot in ESL Pro League Season 20 in September, following a runner-up finish in ESL Challenger League Season 47.

Despite shifting towards a more European roster with their new Swedish players and Polish coach, Wildcard will continue to compete in the Americas RMR, as their lineup does not have a majority from a single region.
