From the Football Field to the Esports Arena: AC Milan Star Simon Kjær Launches New Danish Counter-Strike Team WOPA!
Simon Kjær, a Serie A champion with AC Milan in the 2020-21 season, has ventured into the esports arena by co-founding a new Danish Counter-Strike team named WOPA, alongside Martin Rosenbæk, the founder of HLTV, and Nicolai Orbe.
Expressing his enthusiasm on X, Kjær shared his personal affinity for Counter-Strike, stating, "I love playing Counter-Strike myself, and I hope to be able to help young girls and boys find and cultivate their passion."
WOPA has integrated most of the players from the former CEPTER roster, with a notable change seeing Christian "Vster" Vestergaard stepping in for Anders "Pellyy" Bredahl Laursen.
The team has shown promising results in the domestic scene, securing second place in the latest POWER Ligaen, a Danish regional competition. They've continued this strong performance into the current season, achieving consecutive victories in their first two matches.
The current WOPA roster consists of:
- Benjamin "brzer" Jensen (Denmark)
- Lucas "Gnøffe" Brunsvig (Denmark)
- Jamie "leakz" Bugge West Jensen (Denmark)
- Thomas "LUMSEN" Søhus Larsen (Denmark)
- Christian "Vster" Vestergaard (Denmark)
The team is coached by Andreas "addi" Wallenberg from Sweden.
