Astralis Reinvents: Casper "ruggah" Due Steps in as Head Coach Amidst Competitive Turbulence
Casper "ruggah" Due has officially joined Astralis as their new head coach, stepping into the role immediately. This move comes shortly after Astralis missed out on qualifying for the PGL Copenhagen Major, marking a significant moment for the Danish esports organization.
Previously coaching for Dignitas and North, ruggah had agreed to move to Astralis in January. However, he was obligated to see out his contract with OG, which was due to end on April 1. Fortunately, an arrangement was made allowing him to start his new position a month ahead of schedule, joining forces with Nicolai "device" Reedtz and the rest of the team.
Kasper Straube, the Sports Director for Astralis, expressed confidence in ruggah's arrival amidst the team's current struggles. He emphasized the team's talent and his belief in their collective ability to overcome their challenges.
ruggah shared his outlook on the task ahead, acknowledging the difficulties his predecessors faced. He emphasized his optimism for the team's potential and the support of a strong organization, expressing eagerness to begin his tenure.
The transition period saw Mathias "R0nic" Pinholt temporarily take on the coaching role following Peter "casle" Ardenskjold's departure in December 2023. Ruggah's main immediate challenge will be to address the team's recent setbacks and steer Astralis back to success.
The current lineup for Astralis includes:
- Nicolai "device" Reedtz
- Martin "stavn" Lund
- Benjamin "blameF" Bremer
- Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard
- Victor "Staehr" Staehr
With Casper "ruggah" Due as the head coach, the team looks forward to navigating through their recent difficulties and finding their way back to the top of competitive Counter-Strike.
