China's Top Team Becomes Free Agents: Rare Atom's Departure
In a surprising turn of events, the reigning best team in China, Rare Atom, has announced that their entire lineup, including their coach, will be parting ways with the organization. This means that all six members of the team are now free agents, signaling a potential shift in the Chinese competitive CS:GO scene.
Rare Atom, formerly known as ViCi before their rebranding in January 2022, had enjoyed a long and successful journey together. However, WeiJie "zhokiNg" Zhong and ZhiHong "aumaN" Liu were replaced early on by Jingxiang "Mercury" Wang and Qianhao "Moseyuh" Chen, solidifying the team's roster for the remainder of their tenure with the organization.
Throughout their time together, Rare Atom had been a dominant force in the Chinese CS:GO scene, consistently outperforming other teams in the region. Their accomplishments included triumphs in several regional events like the ESL Challenger Leagues and Perfect World Premier Leagues. They even managed a respectable top-four finish at ESL Challenger Valencia during one of their rare international appearances. However, despite their efforts, they faced setbacks in their attempts to qualify for a Major tournament on three occasions.
In an announcement on Weibo, the Chinese social media platform, coach Xielin "k4Mi" Zhu revealed that the team plans to stick together and is actively seeking support as they prepare for their upcoming participation in the ESL Pro League.
The roster of the departing Rare Atom team, consists of:
- Zhuo "advent" Liang
- Andrew "kaze" Khong
- Yi "JamYoung" Yang
- Jingxiang "Mercury" Wang
- Qianhao "Moseyuh" Chen
- Xielin "k4Mi" Zhu
With their departure from Rare Atom, the future of this formidable team remains uncertain. Fans and followers of the CS:GO scene will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on their next move as they venture into the world of free agency, potentially heralding a new era for these talented players.
