An update has been released for CS 2, which includes new maps Nuke and Office, as well as the ability to inspect grenades

On the night of June 30th, Valve released an update for the game Counter-Strike 2. The following changes were made as part of this update: the map Mirage was removed from the game and replaced with the addition of Nuke and Office maps. The update also introduced the ability to inspect grenades and fixed several bugs.

In terms of gameplay, a regular game mode was added. In the shooting section, rare cases where bullets did not correspond to the set accuracy were fixed.

Regarding the maps, a nuclear bomb was added to the Deathmatch, Casual, and Competitive modes. Additionally, the Office map was added to the Deathmatch and Casual modes, while the Mirage map was removed from the game.

In the audio area, sound effects were added to determine the distance to all positional sound sources. Sound processing in 3D format was improved, and general audio settings and mixing enhancements were made. An issue was also fixed where sometimes sounds did not account for occlusion of surrounding geometry, leading to incorrect estimation of sound source distance. Low-frequency sounds such as grenades and gunshots now play correctly at specific distances. Additionally, a bug was fixed where certain sounds were slightly louder or quieter depending on the listener's orientation. Musical cues were added to matchmaking and loading screens. The Nuke map received a unique sound isolation layer to assist with vertical sound positioning.

In terms of animations, it became possible to inspect grenades. The animation for the medical syringe was improved, as well as the behavior when inspecting different weapons.

In terms of movement, cases of unintentional slow crouching/standing were fixed. Bunny hopping now should be closer to CS:GO with 128 ticks. A console variable, sv_jump_spam_penalty_time, was added for precise jump feel adjustments. The cl_showpos values were improved to display the maximum speed over the last 3 seconds; this number appears in parentheses in the 'vel' line. Players are no longer able to jump at the end of warm-up.

In the networking aspect, game delta frames are now sent asynchronously, reducing the load on the dedicated server's main thread and consequently reducing the likelihood of tick drops.

Other changes include fixing a case where holstered weapons were displayed on dead players, adding an equipment diagnostic team icon for inventory/item drop tiles, defaulting to first-person view when possible when switching to spectator mode, adjusting the transition between observer chase camera and free move camera, centering the game mode text on the loading screen, and removing the "Best of X rounds" label from the loading screen.
