Daniel Forborg leaves Copenhagen Flames
Daniel Vorborg has announced his departure from the Copenhagen Flames organization. Recall that the 29-year-old Danish specialist was the esports director and co-founder of the club, and also coached several iterations of the team from February 2019 to May 2020, and also from January to June 2022.
It was the hardest decision of my life, but ultimately I decided to leave Copenhagen Flames. The last four years have been crazy. We have gone from a small club with almost zero budget and side jobs to being the top rated Danish club in both CS:GO and Fortnite right now. On top of that, we've built a real business with a lot of employees and we're still growing every year.
Over the past four years, I have given the Copenhagen Flames everything I could and got everything in return. I appreciate all the colleagues I have worked with over the years and to be honest, I have never worked with so many people who have such a burning passion for what they do. It was an amazing time and I have never regretted my decision to take a chance in a small Danish club.
Now you may be wondering why I decided to try something new - and ultimately the same reason why I joined Copenhagen Flames in the first place. My number one priority in life is to constantly challenge myself; stepping out of my comfort zone and testing my skills and abilities is what makes me happy. A big part of my job is working with the CS:GO division and we've done some amazing things together over the last 3 years. Ultimately, however, we will have one more rebuild, and perhaps a couple more, before we have the resources to constantly maintain a squad capable of competing at the highest level. I feel the need to challenge myself at this level and therefore I hope to find myself in a new place.
I cannot express in words how grateful I am to every person who has been to Copenhagen Flames, we have gone through all the difficulties together. The highest highs of my life and the most painful, most stressful lows. I will always look back with great joy on these four years of my life and regard them as decisive for my self-development.
Recall that the day before, the Danish eSports organization Copenhagen Flames officially puts the remaining CS:GO roster up for transfer. Following the sale of nicoodoz and roeJ to fnatic, the organization is looking to release its assets to more established clubs that will provide players with full support and provide the necessary resources for further growth.
The second iteration of the Copenhagen Flames line-up was formed last May. During the season, the Danish team achieved great success, winning BLAST Rising 2021, Malta Vibes Knockout Series #4 and PGL Major Antwerp 2022: European RMR B. However, the team’s greatest achievements relate to larger championships, as the roster took 9-11th place in the PGL Major Stockholm 2021, and also reached the quarterfinals of the recent PGL Major Antwerp 2022.
The latest Copenhagen Flames line-up is as follows:
- Jabby.
- nicoodoz.
- roeJ.
- HooXi.
- Zyphon.
- vorborg (coach).
