Kjaerbye announces his return to the competitive scene
Kjaerbye has announced his return to the competitive scene. In an interview for the Dexerto portal, the Danish esportsman said that he has become stronger physically and mentally, and is ready to give himself another chance to resume his professional career.
I know that I will need to earn people's trust and prove my worth. I'm not going to make excuses. I am here to work and feed my desire to improve. I don't have a goal to win a certain title or achieve a certain result, but I want to compete at the highest level, feel the adrenaline, test my nerves and hear the roar of the crowd. But obviously I need the right conditions and a team to show how much I have improved.
Kjaerbye appeared on the scene in 2014, but the 23-year-old Dane's real take-off came in 2016 when he joined Astralis. Together with the team, the esportsman became the winner of Esports Championship Series Season 2 - Finals, ELEAGUE Major: Atlanta 2017 and Intel Extreme Masters XI - World Championship, being remembered as the main star of the generation.
However, after a year and a half, Kjaerbye, unexpectedly for many, left Astralis to move to North. Here, the 23-year-old player won several championships, but never managed to realize himself, gradually sliding into the void.
As a result, the Dane's career fell into decline, and after unsuccessful attempts to return to the radar in FaZe Clan and HYENAS, the esportsman put his career on pause.
From the interview it becomes clear that the turning point in the decision to return to the professional scene was the rejected application to complete four months of military training. Deprived of the opportunity to serve on the draft, Kjaerbye began the process of returning to the scene.
I did not become a different person, but I became stronger mentally and physically. Just sitting and playing CS doesn't show my best side.
Recall that the 23-year-old player has already been in the news, appearing in Team Heroic's roster for Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI - Katowice. In addition, Kjaerbye is also listed as Heroic's replacement for the upcoming RMR cycle.
