Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Introduces Gundam-Themed Tracer Packs

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has launched its first Gundam-themed Tracer Pack, featuring a skin for the MS-06S Zaku II. Available in the Call of Duty store since June 1, this pack is the first of three mobile suit-themed skins coming to the game.

Gundam and Call of Duty Collaboration

The collaboration between Gundam and Call of Duty was announced in May. The Gundam franchise, which began in 1979, includes numerous anime series and movies. The MS-06S Zaku II, a commander-type variation of a basic suit from the franchise's first series, is known for being piloted by characters like Char Aznable, a villain-turned-hero.

What’s Included in the MS-06S Zaku II Tracer Pack

This Tracer Pack allows players to don the appearance of a Mobile Suit Gundam operator. It includes:

• Searing Slash Finishing Move
• Three Blueprints
• Charm
• Large Decal
• Two Weapon Stickers
• Emblem
• Animated Calling Card
• New Loading Screen

Upcoming Gundam Skins

While the Zaku II is an iconic mobile suit, it's not technically a Gundam. Two additional packs will introduce actual Gundams into Call of Duty:

1. Mobile Suit – RX-78-2 Tracer Pack: Features an operator skin based on the first Gundam piloted by Amuro Ray from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series, including a Newtype Finisher move.
2. Mobile Suit – XVX-016 Gundam Aerial Tracer Pack: Includes an operator skin of the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial from the 2022 anime series Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.

Both packs will come with similar rewards to those in the Zaku II Tracer Pack.

Community Reaction to Tracer Packs

Call of Duty has faced criticism from fans regarding its Tracer Packs. Many players are unhappy with the prevalence of microtransactions and feel that operator skins based on other IPs detract from the immersive realism of the game. Despite these concerns, the Gundam franchise's long history and dedicated fan base might find these new Tracer Packs a welcome addition to Modern Warfare 3.
