According to claims, the Modern Warfare 3 campaign can be completed in 3-4 hours

Last Thursday, the highly anticipated campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released for players who had pre-ordered the digital edition, granting them early access to the single-player portion a week before the official release.

However, following the release, player reviews have begun to surface, suggesting that the campaign can be completed in approximately 3-4 hours of gameplay.

Prominent Call of Duty streamer, Marley13, managed to finish the campaign in just under four hours, as reported.

In comparison to its predecessor, Modern Warfare 2, data from the HowLongToBeat website, which aggregates game completion times reported by the gaming community, indicates that Modern Warfare 2 took around eight hours to complete.

While some older campaigns in the Call of Duty series typically took around 6-7 hours to finish, the Modern Warfare 3 campaign appears to be one of the shorter ones among the mainline titles.

Streamers and other players have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the campaign's brevity and criticized the new open-combat missions, which feature larger, open maps, departing from the traditional linear environments of Call of Duty.

The relatively short length of the game may be attributed to reports that this year's Call of Duty was intended to be a continuation of last year's Modern Warfare 2 rather than a fully standalone release.

Citing sources within Activision, it's been reported that the initial plan was to release a major expansion for Modern Warfare 2, which later evolved into a standalone game.

Activision aimed to create a game that could serve as both a standalone, full-priced release and an extension of Modern Warfare II, according to these sources.
