China prepares to launch VALORANT
Riot Games and Tencent are preparing to launch VALORANT in China. The official website of the game is already available in the country, as well as accounts on Weibo and other communities. In addition, a promotional video featuring Sentinels players was shown before the Chinese LPL League of Legends matches.
According to commentator AlanGai, the game has yet to be licensed by the National Press and Press Administration (NPPA) and approved by the local government. Nevertheless, the process is in an active phase, and soon all legal formalities will be resolved. AlanGai also suggested that Riot Games will first open a closed beta test, following which it will outline specific plans for launching a regional server. The official announcement from Riot Games is expected to arrive on September 4th.
According to the journalist FionnOnFire, several local esports organizations are already interested in their own rosters. Note that a number of organizations already have teams, such as Royal Never Give Up, Edward Gaming and Invictus Gaming.
