FunPlus Phoenix breaks up with Johnta
FunPlus Phoenix has announced its separation from Johnta. The 33-year-old Ukrainian specialist said that he would soon share information about his future.
FPX posted a statement on their Twitter regarding the situation: "Today our team is announcing a change of coaching staff. We are parting ways with our coach Johnta. Thank you for your leadership and dedication. We would like to wish you the best in your future endeavors!"
Johnta is widely known in esports circles for coaching CS: GO teams for a long time, in particular, reaching the playoffs of FACEIT Major: London 2018 together with Hellraisers. In recent years, the specialist has led less eminent teams, be it Project X or CR4ZY, without having achieved great heights.
However, last December Johnta made the decision to move to VALORANT, becoming the new coach at FunPlus Phoenix. Together with the team, the 33-year-old Ukrainian specialist made it to the TOP-4 at First Strike Europe, and also won several major tournaments, including VCT 2021: Europe Stage 1 Challengers 2 and VCT 2021: Europe Stage 2 Challengers 1. The last tournament as a coach for Johnta became VCT 2021: EMEA Stage 2 Challengers Finals, where FunPlus Phoenix failed to qualify from the group, losing to Gambit (0: 2).
From now on, the roster of FunPlus Phoenix is as follows:
- ANGE1.
- Shao.
- Zyppan.
- ShadoW.
- dimasick.
