Partner teams will earn money for selling named items in VALORANT
Leo Faria, Head of Esports for VALORANT, revealed on The Wiseman Podcast that VCT Partner Organizations will receive in-game monetization in addition to selling VALORANT Champions Bundle skins to celebrate the season's biggest championship.
We support partner teams in several different ways. The first one is scholarships. We have a decent amount of money that the team receives just for being in the league, and we want to provide them with a predictable income. The second way is to share the income from in-game items. As you know, the VALORANT Champions bundle has been incredibly successful over the past two years. We also give teams the majority of the revenue from their team-branded content.
Given the above, Faria shared one of the criteria for choosing partner teams. In particular, the developers looked at the potential for creating different types of in-game content. As such, VALORANT will soon have in-game items linked to 30 partner teams. However, the exact timing of the appearance of new "cosmetics" is not disclosed.
The head of VALORANT also said that teams have a guarantee to receive a minimum return on the amount invested in game content, so even small organizations will still receive a share of the profits. Moreover, organizations are rewarded for creating unique content and hosting events.
