Ubisoft Addresses Player Concerns in New “Siege Community Update”
Ubisoft has released an official message to the Rainbow Six Siege community, directly addressing the challenges of recent months and outlining the studio’s main development priorities. Project leads Alex Karpazis and Joshua Mills emphasized that the team’s current mission is to rebuild player trust through greater transparency, consistent communication, and resolving systemic issues that emerged following the launch of Siege X.
🔒 Key Development Priorities
In the months ahead, Ubisoft will focus on three main areas:
- Combating cheaters
- Balancing operators
- Revamping the ranked experience
⚔️ Combating Cheaters
Ubisoft admitted that the transition of Siege X to Free Access led to a sharp increase in cheating activity, overwhelming existing anti-cheat systems. To address this, the development team is:
- Intensifying detection and blocking of major cheat software;
- Targeting known cheat developers and shutting down their services;
- Removing marketplace exploits that enable unfair play;
- Enforcing permanent bans for repeated or severe violations.
Ubisoft stressed that protecting competitive integrity remains a top priority moving forward.
⚖️ Operator Balance Updates
The developers acknowledged community frustration over updates being perceived mainly as nerfs rather than balanced reworks. In response, Patch 3.3 (October 14) will bring several key adjustments:
- 🔹 Denari: Previous nerfs will be reverted, and his Glaive-12 rifle will receive a performance boost.
- 🔹 Solis: Will regain frag grenades.
- 🔹 Thermite, Hibana, and Maverick: Set to receive buffs in Season Y10S4.
- 🔹 Testing Grounds: A new experimental environment for early gameplay tests, debuting with a rework of the armor and speed system for operators.
This new framework aims to make balancing updates more transparent and data-driven, ensuring community feedback plays a stronger role in shaping future changes.
🏅 Ranked System Overhaul
Ubisoft acknowledged that Ranked 2.0 fell short of player expectations. Beginning with Y10S4, matchmaking will be improved to better account for rank and party size, laying the groundwork for a complete Ranked overhaul planned for next year.
Key upcoming features include:
- A visible skill progression system;
- Enhanced reward structure;
- Public testing and player discussions during the BLAST R6 Major Munich 2025 event.
Ubisoft expects the full rollout of the new Ranked system during the first half of Year 11.
🔧 Future Content Direction
The studio admitted that recent seasons have felt “lighter” in content, noting that current efforts are focused on rebuilding the foundation for future updates rather than short-term additions.
Ubisoft also promised to reassess mid-season update formats and share detailed development insights at the BLAST R6 Major Munich 2025 this November.
💬 Ubisoft’s Closing Message
Ubisoft concluded the update by reaffirming its commitment to the long-term health of Rainbow Six Siege, pledging open communication and continued community involvement throughout this transition.
“We understand that trust must be earned again, and we are fully dedicated to delivering a stronger, fairer, and more exciting Siege experience.”
