PUBG Mobile is the most popular battle royale in 2022
The well-known analytical service Esports Charts has presented statistics on the most popular esports disciplines in the Battle Royale genre. The leader was PUBG Mobile, which collected 112.09 million hours watched in 2022.
The mobile offshoot of PUBG continues to dominate the rankings. Last year, viewers from all over the world watched the championships on PUBG Mobile for over 115 million hours. The five best PUBG Mobile tournaments have collected over 7 million hours this year. In turn, PMGC 2022, which is still ongoing, gave the discipline an additional 20.9 million hours.
The Apex Legends discipline is on the second line. But if the competitive scene is going through hard times, given the divisions and the departure of large organizations, then fans are still following the events. Last year, Apex Legends collected 62.47 million hours, while ALGS: 2022 Split 2 Playoffs was the most watched tournament of the year with 676,000 viewers.
Third place went to Free Fire. The recent Free Fire World Series 2022 attracted 1.4 million viewers. In total, the mobile discipline has collected 43.83 million hours.
In fourth place is the Fortnite discipline, which in 2022 collected 38.96 million hours. Peak values were reached at Twitch Rivals Creator Series: North America Kick-off, which attracted just over 557,000 viewers at the same time.
Closes the TOP-5 of the PUBG rating. The battle royale trendsetter has amassed 29.63 million hours. The main discipline championship turned out to be PUBG Nations Cup 2022, which at its peak was watched by a little over 239,000 people.
