Pokémon and the Van Gogh Museum have announced a joint collaboration
In a recently released video this week, Pikachu and Eevee can be seen running through a field of sunflowers, paying homage to one of Van Gogh's iconic paintings.
Subsequently, a drop of paint lands on Pikachu's head, prompting them to look up and witness the transformation of the sky into a rendition reminiscent of Van Gogh's work.
Towards the end of the trailer, a version of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" is displayed, reimagined to feature the Pokemon Sunflora. Neither The Pokemon Company nor The Van Gogh Museum has provided specific details about the nature of this collaboration, except that it will commence on September 28.
This marks not the first instance of The Pokemon Company collaborating with renowned museums. In 2018, Pokemon partnered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum between October 27 and January 20, 2019.
During this period, museum visitors had the opportunity to acquire one of five promotional Pokemon Trading Card Game cards featuring characters styled after Munch's "The Scream."
These cards are highly sought after by collectors due to their rarity and the fact that they were only available for very limited durations. For instance, the Pikachu Munch Promo card was accessible for just one week, coinciding with Japan's Pokemon Week, which ran from December 10 to December 16.
