Pokémon Champions Announced for Mobile & Switch — A Battle-Focused Core Game Arrives in 2026

Pokémon Champions, a brand-new battle-centric title, has officially been announced and is set to launch in 2026 for Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. The game, developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company, was first revealed during the Pokémon Presents event on February 27, 2025.

Classic Mechanics Return with Competitive Depth

Pokémon Champions brings back the core mechanics that fans know and love — including traditional Pokémon types, Abilities, and moves. It features both Single and Double Battles, with three distinct modes for players to choose from:

  • Ranked Battles – For competitive players seeking high-stakes challenges
  • Casual Battles – For more relaxed matchups
  • Private Battles – For friendly skirmishes with selected opponents

The game appears to focus on pure battling, offering a streamlined and strategic experience without the exploration-heavy elements of mainline titles. Early visuals even hint at gym-style arenas, reinforcing the tactical, head-to-head nature of the game.

Cross-Platform Play & Pokémon HOME Integration

One of the most exciting features is cross-platform support, allowing players across mobile and Switch to battle each other seamlessly. Additionally, Pokémon Champions will support Pokémon HOME, meaning you’ll be able to import your favorite Pokémon from other titles and use them in competitive play.

The developers have also stated that the game is “designed to be enjoyable for more players than before,” suggesting a more accessible experience for both veterans and newcomers alike.

What’s Next for Pokémon Champions?

While full gameplay details are still limited, the official trailer gives a strong sense of the game’s polished battle visuals and competitive tone. More updates are expected in the coming months as development progresses.
