In Japan, a live-action television series based on the Pokémon universe is in the works for release

According to information from TV Tokyo's official website (via Serebii and Nintendo Life), the title of the new show can be translated as "Fill Your Pockets with Adventures," and it is set to start airing on Thursdays on TV Tokyo from October 19th.

The storyline of the series follows Madoka Agaki, who graduates from a small port town university. Contrary to the expectations of those around her and the stable job at a seafood processing company, she decides to change her life's course. Madoka moves to Tokyo to pursue her dream, joining a small advertising agency named ADventure.

Despite her previous dreams of life in Tokyo, when she arrives there, Madoka quickly realizes that daily life is not as she had expected. She begins to feel the pressure when she takes on a presentation that could influence her company's future.

Soon after, Madoka receives a package from her mother containing a Game Boy Pocket and a copy of Pokémon Red, games she used to play during her childhood. She starts playing the game and realizes that it holds something significant for her life.

The show is positioned as the world's first "human drama Pokémon," where the main character grows through experiences linked to playing Pokémon.

The role of Madoka is portrayed by Nanase Nishino, a former member of the Japanese idol group Nogizaka46, who transitioned into an actress, model, and television host.

In 2022, Nishino received a Japanese Academy Award, similar to an Oscar, in the "Best Newcomer" category for her role in the crime film "The Last of the Wolves."

"I was surprised to receive this offer just a few days after telling a friend that I'd like to work on something related to Pokémon in the future," Nishino said. "I'm really happy because I'm part of the generation that grew up with Pokémon and played most of the series, from the first to the last."
