A Newly Uncovered Bug in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Leads to Game Crashes During the Final Battle
A fresh bug has surfaced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, causing the game to crash when players reach the last battle of the main storyline quest. This issue seems to have emerged with patch 2.0.1, which coincided with the release of The Teal Mask DLC on September 13th.
Players have identified the trigger for this crash and found workarounds to deal with it while waiting for a fix. In a nutshell, if you've already registered the Legendary Paradox Pokémon native to your game version, avoid attempting to switch Pokémon from slots four to six of your party into the battle.
During the concluding phase of the quest "The Way Home", players must confront Koraidon or Miraidon, depending on whether they are playing Scarlet or Violet. When it's time to bring in Koraidon/Miraidon for the fight, trying to scroll down through slots four, five, and six in your party will cause the game to crash.
To circumvent this issue, players can either have a party consisting of three or fewer Pokémon or press the "up" button to cycle back to their Legendary instead. It's essential not to go any further back, as attempting to access slot six from the Legendary Pokémon will also result in a game crash.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet faced numerous glitches and performance problems upon release, prompting Nintendo to issue an apology to players. Unfortunately, The Teal Mask DLC hasn't been exempt from similar issues, as players have reported frame rate drops and various bugs.
